Much like economies in Latin America,  Indonesia is dependent on commodity exports.  For this reason, their economy has been booming (up until 2008).

JAKARTA, Indonesia -- The Indonesian economy expanded last year at its fastest pace in a decade on rising investment and growth in commodity exports, the Central Statistics Agency reported.

Economists generally expect momentum to be sustained this year, but they said that even faster growth will be needed to address the problems of widespread unemployment and poverty.

Southeast Asia's largest economy grew 6.32% in 2007, accelerating from 5.5% in the previous year, the statistics agency said Friday.
